Who are we?
Freedom House serves the homeless, less fortunate, vulnerable and those effected by injustice in the core area of Winnipeg. We believe in giving a hand-up and not a hand-out to men and women working towards becoming productive members of society.
Freedom House is passionate about leading people to discover the joy that comes from knowing and serving Jesus.
We have a promise in the bible that if we seek him, we will find Him. You are a valued part of God’s creation and it is His deep desire to have a relationship with you, so please visit us as we pursue God together.
We recognize that while we need to feed our community spiritually we serve in a community where physical needs are of short supply. To this end we feel called to be the Hand and Feet of Jesus.

Who is Freedom House?
Freedom House is a church family, we are a part of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba but we also partner with other denominations. We are grateful that we also get to partner with a few likeminded ministries in the city. Thank you to Church of the Rock, Gateway Community Church, Abundant Life Baptist Church and our other partners for your continued support over the years.
We exist to preach the gospel of Jesus and to provided much need support to our local community. Our goal is to disciple our community into a relationship with Jesus and help them walk in that place of Freedom.
Derrick & Priscilla Moodley
Derrick and Priscilla Moodley have both served in the His People / Every Nation Church in Johannesburg for 19 years before moving to Winnipeg.
In 2005 they were ordained as Pastors. They have four beautiful children. Derrick has served on the Every Nation full-time leadership team past 10 years, while Priscilla joined the team in 2013 and served for 5 years. They both have a passion and love for the poor. As part of their roles they both carried out various pastoral duties.
Derrick served as Operations and Financial Director. He started a homeless rehabilitation project in the city. The project involved discipleship, mentorship and training. Priscilla led the prayer ministry and she also ran a project called Malibongwe where she took in single mums and helped them with life skills, find a job or start a home business. They successfully raised up leaders to take over these projects.
They both ran the Hosting ministry (Sunday volunteers’ teams) at the Rosebank congregation. They love pastoring, connecting with people and raising & developing leaders. Derrick and Priscilla have a passion to see marriages & families strong and serving Gods kingdom.
At the Every Nation 2016 World Conference, they felt a call to plant a church in Winnipeg, Canada. In 2017 they attended the C2C Assessment Centre, completed boot camp and April 2018 they landed in Winnipeg, Canada to make this their home.
In June 2019 they took over the raines of “Walls of Freedom” from Jim and Jacqie Wiseman. The Wiseman’s had done a great job of founding and leading this Ministry from 2007. It was time for them to enjoy a well deserved rest.
We are governed by a Board. The board is made up of leaders from different ministries in the city. We all have a common goal to see the City of Winnipeg transformed under the Lordship of Jesus.
Our current board is :
Derrick Moodley – Chairperson/Director
Ewald Unruh – Secretary
Ken Peters – Treasurer
Roger Fontaine – Member
Derrick and Priscilla have set up a Working Committee to assist with the daily running of the ministry. The working committee is made up of a number of “long-term” volunteers that serve in the ministry. They assist Derrick and Pricilla with the day-to-day running and operations of Freedom House.
This team has been, and remain to be, a valuable part of Freedom House. We are so grateful for their ongoing support.
We intentionally choose to draw closer to God so that we can understand His love for us. In doing so we respond by Loving Him back.
Once we understand the Love of God and start embracing His Love we have no choice but to Love People, we choose to be intentional about prioritizing relationship with others.
We want to share Jesus and His love with others so that they too can experience the joy we feel in our hearts. We intentionally seek out people that we can share about God’s love.
Our Core Values
We believe that whole-hearted submission to God’s will and His Word is the starting point of the Christian faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth.
God has called us to spiritual family, we embrace community, reject the idea of disposable relationships and choose to walk in love, respect & unity. Because the family is the foundation and validation of ministry, we refuse to sacrifice our marriages and our children on the altar to temporal success.
Everyone needs a place to belong, we provide a community to experience meaningful friendship, grow in God and to reach out to our city.
Every tribe and nation is welcome here! We believe that God wants all of us to worship Him together. We see that value of having heaven reflect here on earth. We celebrate our diversity.
God has called us to worship and fellowship as families. We understand the importance of raising our children up in the ways of the Lord. We also acknowledge the importance of the older generation speaking into the lives of the younger generations.
We are called to look after the widowed, orphan and poor among us. We commit to helping those that have need and will fight for justice for those that are treated unfair or unjustly.
Evangelism – John 3 vs 16 and Luke 19 vs 10
Because God’s heart is to reach the lost, we are passionate about preaching the gospel and doing ministry in a way that engages people outside of the Christian faith.
Discipleship – Matt 28 vs 19 – 20
Because we are called to make disciples, Our primary focus is to establish biblical foundations, equip believers to minister and empower disciples to make disciples.
